SEA Support Services is looking for a female BSL-speaking Support Worker to provide person-centred support to a friendly, bubbly and chatty 61-year-old Deaf lady living in the Wirral area.

AP enjoys shopping, seeing friends, watching the news, birds and history. She enjoys having one-to-one conversations and learning interesting facts, particularly about history and current events. She also enjoys drawing and learning from YouTube.

This role would suit someone who is patient, friendly, positive and enjoys building a genuine relationship with the person they support.

About the person

AP is Deaf and communicates using BSL, lip-reading and written communication. It is important that her Support Worker is confident using BSL and communicates clearly at her pace.

AP has arthritis and experiences soreness in her knees and feet. She may need extra time when standing, moving around and getting in and out of the shower.

Please do not rush AP. Patience and clear communication are very important.

When AP is happy, she enjoys joking and having a laugh. If something is upsetting her, she will communicate this. A calm approach, a smile and taking time to talk with her can help.
