Job Description:
About the role
SEA Support Services is looking for a caring, patient and reliable Male Support Worker to support a 5-year-old Deaf boy living in the Preston area.
He is inquisitive, friendly and enjoys exploring and learning. He enjoys activities such as nature, books and spending time out and about.
He communicates using BSL, home signs and gestures, so a Support Worker who can communicate clearly and confidently with him is essential.

Supporting him to take part in activities he enjoys
About the person
He has autism and mental health needs and benefits from a calm, structured and positive approach.
When he is happy, he may show this through smiling and thumbs up. When he is unhappy or overwhelmed, he may become more unsettled.
Support should focus on de-escalation and distraction, following the strategies outlined in his PBS plan.
Safety awareness is particularly important, including self-safety and awareness around colleagues and the surrounding environment.
What we are looking for
You should:
Be male, in line with the client's support requirements
Be a confident BSL user
Be Deaf-aware
Have experience supporting children or people with autism
Be patient, calm and reliable
Be comfortable following structured routines and support plans
Understand the importance of clear and consistent communication
Be able to use distraction and de-escalation strategies when needed
Have a full UK driving licence
Have access to suitable transport for the role
Experience with autism, sensory needs, PBS or positive behaviour support would be desirable.
Start date: ASAP
There may be opportunities for additional work locally depending on availability.
Training and support
Full training will be provided where needed. You will also receive guidance around the individual's communication, routines and support strategies.
