Job description:
Support Worker for Deaf Client Doncaster
Location: Doncaster Job Type: Permanent and Bank Hours of work: Full time, Part Time Available Salary: £13.45 – £15.85 per hour
Support Worker – Doncaster
Our services have been rated Outstanding by the CQC.
We're looking for a dedicated Support Worker to provide personalised support to a young man living in Doncaster. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a meaningful working relationship and make a real difference to someone's daily life.
About the Person You'll Support
You'll be working with an easy-going 19-year-old BSL user who is Deaf. He loves football, arts and crafts, gaming, walks, and trips out in the minibus on countryside routes. He thrives on routine, likes to plan his own week, and enjoys being busy – so you'll need to be someone who can keep things structured and engaging.
He is Autistic, and communication is primarily through BSL and body language. He can be unsettled by sudden changes to routine or unexpected physical contact, so a calm, predictable approach is essential. When he needs time to decompress, space to process and walks help him most.
Your Role Will Include
Personal care and support with daily routines
Medication prompting and administration
Meal preparation and nutrition support
Community access and social support
Travel support and household tasks
Sensory and learning/routine support
Implementing and working within a PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) plan
Building a warm, consistent, and trusted relationship
What Makes a Great Match
The ideal candidate will be calm, structured, and experienced in supporting young adults with Autism and learning disabilities. BSL skills and Deaf awareness are essential, and experience with PBS approaches is highly valued. A full valid UK driving licence is required. You'll understand the importance of routine and consistency, and be someone who genuinely enjoys keeping things active and engaging.
